Tinnitus Services

Causes of Tinnitus

Tinnitus Therapy Options

  • Hearing Aids with Tinnitus Maskers
Amplify external sounds and can play masking tones to reduce the perception of tinnitus.

  • Sound Therapy / Masking Devices
White noise machines, sound generators, or smartphone apps that provide background sounds to make tinnitus less noticeable.

  • Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT)
Combines sound therapy with counseling to help retrain the brain to “ignore” tinnitus signals over time.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Teaches patients how to change negative thought patterns and emotional responses linked to tinnitus.

  • Progressive Tinnitus Management (PTM)
A structured, step-by-step program (often used in the VA system) combining education, sound therapy, and counseling.

  • Nutritional / Lifestyle Approaches
Reducing caffeine and alcohol, quitting smoking, improving sleep, and managing stress to lessen symptom severity.

  • Acoustic Neural Stimulation
Uses specialized sound signals to desensitize the auditory system and reduce the impact of tinnitus.

  • Biofeedback & Relaxation Techniques
Helps patients control stress and muscle tension, which can make tinnitus symptoms worse.

  • Physical Therapies (for somatic tinnitus)
Includes jaw or neck physical therapy if tinnitus is linked to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) issues or cervical spine problems.
